Christmas came to Life Care Center of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, on Dec. 16, 2017, with the center’s first-ever employee children’s Breakfast with Santa.
A staff of elves turned the dining room into a gingerbread house, with the lobby becoming Santa’s workshop for photos with Santa. The children’s eyes lit up when they heard the sirens from the firetruck coming down the driveway and bringing Santa.
The children welcomed Santa by singing “Here Comes Santa Claus,” and of course Mrs. Claus arrived with him and treated the children to Christmas cookies.
“We couldn’t forget his reindeer, so some local goats filled in with reindeer antlers on,” said Jan Garneau, admissions director. “We also had the Grinch (Dennis Lopata, executive director) and Cindy Lou Who (resident Peg Stearns) visiting with the children for photos.”
Kids had fun with holiday games such as reindeer races, stumbling snowman (in which they tried to knock down a snowman cutout with a “snowball”) and pin-the-stocking-on-the-Christmas-tree.
“It was heartwarming and magical to feel the Christmas spirit in the air,” said Garneau.
