For Valentine’s Day 2018, Life Care Center of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, went big.
On Feb. 13, residents and their family members enjoyed a sweetheart mixer. Associates served a special filet mignon dinner, and residents listened to volunteer Isabella Escobar sing love songs. They could also take pictures against a Valentine’s Day backdrop.
On Valentine’s Day, associates and residents could purchase “love grams” – a small plush bear, heart necklace and heart balloon bouquet – for residents and associates. Cupids Dennis Lopata, executive director, and Lisa Persson, director of nursing, delivered the grams, and the facility donated the proceeds to the American Heart Association. The love grams raised more than $400.
“I was surprised with a love gram, and it made me feel loved,” said resident Sandra Andryc.
Associates also shared the love that day with more than 100 seniors at the Wilbraham Senior Center. Associates helped serve the Valentine’s lunch and handed out long-stem roses to the attendees.
“The senior center staff appreciated the extra support to make the event a success,” said Jan Garneau, admissions director. “The center relies on volunteers, so every extra hand counts. The seniors enjoyed the lunch while visiting with friends, and they danced to the music. All the seniors were excited when they received a rose to take home with them at the end.”
