Robert and Edna Buckley volunteered at Life Care Center of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, for many years, and now the facility has a space dedicated in their honor.
Associates renamed the facility café Buckley’s Corner and dedicated it to the faithful couple during a volunteer luncheon on April 11, 2019. Though they have passed away, their daughter, Elaine Rabbitt, came in from out of town to attend.
“Life Care Center of Wilbraham’s residents and staff felt like family to my parents, and the honor means a lot to my family,” Rabbitt shared.
The Buckleys started volunteering when Life Care Center of Wilbraham opened its doors in 1991.
“They gave countless hours to the activity department, especially calling bingo and just visiting with residents,” said Jan Garneau, admissions director. “Edna always ran the donations for the Apple Festival, and Bob always enjoyed singing to the residents.”
Now residents can gather and socialize in Buckley’s Corner while enjoying fresh-baked cookies, ice cream, popcorn, hot dogs or drinks.
